Following in the footsteps of her esteemed uncle Giusto Occhipinti’s COS vineyard, Arianna launched her eponymous Occhipinti label at the age of 22 with a clear winemaking lineage in mind. Built on a distinct love for authentic expressions of the local grape varietals she’d been raised alongside, the distinct biodynamic practices of non-interevention in her bottles were clear from the get-go; extended maceration between skins and grape juice, natural fermentation in lieu of preservatives, and oak storage in favour of its strong extraction of tannins have led to the likes of the Occhipinti Siccagno rebranding its local Nero d’Avola beyond its typical supermarket repertoire.
Placing strong emphasis on her soil-work in Vittoria, Siciliy has meant a snapshot of terroir in her winemaking that champions a genuine love for the region in which she cultivates. Well-balanced between smooth, fruit-forward mouthfeel and a lively, evocative acidity, Occhipinti’s reds are fine reinterpretations of the Nerod’Avola and Frappato grapes for all occasions.
The Occhipinti collection is placed in a larger corpus of rich, exciting Italian wines that have contributed to a history of great winemaking.
