Luzador
Red WineLuzador Tinto 2021
Luzador is drawn from the steep granite terraces of Arribes del Duero, a dramatically remote region straddling Spain’s western border with Portugal. The vineyard sites are wind-exposed and difficult to farm, planted to a mix of old-vine Juan García, Rufete, Bastardo, and other local varieties. In 2021, Alvar de Dios coaxed remarkable finesse from the heat of the vintage, capturing something lithe and lifted from this rugged terrain.
The wine opens with a delicate perfume of dried rose, redcurrant, and blood orange, before slipping into a palate that’s stony, herbal, and fine-grained. There's a cool, granite edge beneath the fruit—savoury and grounded, with a sense of air and movement. Raised in neutral barrels and bottled without adornment, this is a wine that speaks softly but holds your attention.
