Jean Tardy Gevrey-Chambertin Vielles Vignes Champerrier 2022

From the lieu-dit Champerrier in Gevrey-Chambertin, this cuvée is drawn from old vines rooted in clay-limestone soils on the lower slopes, where depth of soil tends to give a broader, more generous expression of Pinot Noir. The Tardy family, led by Guillaume Tardy, works with a low-intervention approach: hand harvesting, largely destemmed fruit, native yeast fermentation and élevage in French oak with a restrained proportion of new barrels. The 2022 vintage, warm and even, is expressed here with both ripeness and structure: black cherry and plum, with a subtle earthy note and fine tannins, finishing with length and a steady, mineral line shaped by the underlying limestone.
