Founded in Tasmania, Domaine Simha (sanskrit for lion) honours a heroic heritage, taking their titles from royalty and legends of the East. Winemaker Nav Singh brings an avant-garde approach to winemaking to create living wine founded on knowledge, and informed by intuition. Only a few barrels of each Domaine Simha wine are made in a season. At heart lies Tasmania’s pristine natural environment, sparkling air and ancient soil.
Hunting out magical vineyards in the upper Derwent, Coal River and Huon Valleys, single vineyard wines are shaped au naturel to harness the provenance of epic Tasmanian terroir and season. Harvesting is done by hand according to the lunar cycle on fruit and flower days. Lo-fi techniques like whole bunch wild fermentation, foot stomping and gentle pigeage give wines of beautiful light, shade and perfume with seamless tannin structure. Harnessing the natural properties of clay amphorae, ceramic eggs and large custom demi-muid oak barrels allows the fruit to shine. Wines are basket pressed, bottled unfined and unfiltered with perfect natural balance, powerful foundations and cellar worthy longevity.
