White WineGUM 'A Field' Viognier 2023
From Heathcote's ancient Cambrian terrains, this wine owes its depth to the rich amalgamation of basalt, iron, and sand in the soil.
"
From gun Melbourne sommelier, and here winemaker, George McCullough. The fruit is organically grown in Heathcote. The fruit is whole bunch pressed and matured in Stockinger wood and stainless steel.
It’s a firm and tense viognier, understated in a way, light in its viognier credentials but has good textural appeal, a sluice of fine, minerally lift and ebullient perfume that hauls in sweeet stone fruit, citrus blossom and ripe citrus fruit to anchor us into the variety. A slip and slide in the palate, a cool, briny finish in tow, between, levity and a sense of purity. A gentle wine. A moreish wine. It’s good."
