Matías Riccitelli
Red WineMatías Riccitelli Old Vine Bastardo 2020
Now this is a very interesting drop from Matías Riccitelli, part of his side project featuring wines from Patagonia, a long way to the south of his home base in Mendoza.
It's made from Bastardo (Trousseau), a variety originating from the Jura, that comes from old vines planted in the late 1960s in the Río Negro region of Patagonia.
After natural fermentation and a few months spent resting in French oak, the outcome is mouthwateringly delicate, juicy red with a crisp acidity, stony minerality and light peppery touch.
It'll entice you with delicate floral and cherry perfume, but it'll keep you coming back for more with its deliciousness. Really stunning stuff.
