Neldner Road
Red WinePowell & Son Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021
Please note, the 2021 vintage and future vintages of this wine are now called 'Neldner Road' though the wine remains consistent with the Powell & Son label, the pictured label is the 2019 vintage. Newer vintages bear the new name.
Sourced predominantly from mature vineyards in Marananga, Seppeltsfield in the North-Western ridge, and the Lyndoch Valley in the Southern Barossa, the Barossa Valley Shiraz is a testament to the region's rich wine heritage. Each fruit parcel undergoes individual fermentation in concrete vessels, followed by basket pressing. They are then harmoniously blended and aged in expansive 4,500-litre French oak foudres for 15 months. The wine remains unfiltered and unfined before its journey to the bottle.
This Shiraz unveils a lavish spread of dark plum and blackberry, accompanied by nuances of tar and graphite. Undertones of dried herbs and tobacco add layers to its aroma. On tasting, a harmonious interplay of dark fruits is complemented by undertones of coffee and cedar, carried smoothly by a pliant tannin structure. A finale of rich fruits laced with a dash of white pepper concludes the experience.
