Peter Wetzer farms in Sopron, a marginal, limestone- and gneiss-rich border region where kékfrankos has been cultivated for centuries as part of a shared Austro-Hungarian wine culture. Trained in Austria and influenced by both Burgenland classicism and Hungarian historical practice, Wetzer works predominantly with old vines, native fermentations, long, quiet élevage, and little or no new oak. His wines prioritise sapidity, moderate alcohol, and structural clarity over aromatic display, drawing as much from Central European tradition as from contemporary low-intervention thinking. They are deliberately scarce, intellectually framed wines that reward attention rather than immediacy.
