White WineStift Goettweig Messwein Grüner Veltliner 2021
For ages, the Benedictine monastery has cherished the tradition of the Göttweiger Messwein, also known as the altar wine. Produced from Grüner Veltliner and a rosé derived from Pinot Noir, these wines are characterized by their light and dry nature. Adherence to the church's "Reinheitsgebot", or purity law, is paramount. This law dictates everything from eco-friendly vineyard practices to meticulous grape and wine processing. The bishop's permission is requisite for producing Messwein, ensuring it remains pure and unmodified. With its relatively low alcohol content, Messwein stands out as an effortlessly enjoyable beverage.
