Sancho Rodriguez spent his entire adult life an arms length from the wine game. His family owned and operated the mighty Remulluri in his youth, where he was deep in the wine culture of Rioja. But instead of joining the family business, he ran off to a professional life in marketing surf carnivals in San Sebastian.
Then, at the age of 48, he threw his hat in the ring. Moving to his wife's ancestral village of El Busto, Navarra, he was drawn to the beautiful plots of Garnacha that dotted the landscape - aghast when he learnt they serviced the local co-op, creating tavern wine.
'Manin and His Boys' work almost 3.5 hectares in the Sonsierra Navarra, on the border of Navarra and Rioja. The12 plots across 8 villages are farmed organically.
1 ha. of Garnacha of around 70 years, grown on Eastern-Northeastern slops, with stony-clay soils. 100% de-stemmed, very short maceration in concrete, and aged in stainless steel.
