Bott Frigyes
White WineBott Frigyes Hárslevelű 2021
Bott Frigyes works organically and biodynamically, and all vineyard work is done by hand. "The historic wine region is enclosed inside the geographical centre of the triangle formed by the Garam River, the Danube, and the southern side of the hills of Muzsla. The old desire of our winery has been to bring back the old splendour to the villages along the Garam River, and to build a well-established winery that rightly reflects the specific characteristics of our wine region." - Bott Frigyes, winemaker.
Trivia: Hárslevelű is the second important grape in sweet Tokaji production that many struggle to pronounce. The Slovakian name, Lipovina, might work better. One more, Hárslevelű is an offspring of Furmint. End of trivia.
The acidity across the whites of Bott Frigyes is really impressive; raw, oozing, mouth-salivating and drooling. Eye-watering! This one is no different. The perfume’s intensity is comparable to other grapes they vinify, Juhfark comes to mind, with a signature orange blossom aroma. In this wine, I also get almond blossom, yellow apple skin, yellow plum. It’s a bit of a ripe-fruit-basket type of aroma. The acidity is limey, tingling and lightly briny. It carries the flavours nicely, making it moreish and cleansing but the finish itself is not the longest. Still, impressive and worth exploring. 92 points
