White WineCristom Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay 2020
For three decades, Cristom has been a proud producer of Chardonnay, firmly believing that the unique Eola-Amity Hills AVA in Oregon gives rise to some of the world's most captivating wines. The region's consistent sunlight harmoniously intertwines with the cooling breezes from the Pacific Ocean. These breezes, channeled through a gap in the Coastal Range, dramatically cool the area, ensuring grape acidity remains pronounced.
At the heart of Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay is the Paul Gerrie Vineyard, elevated at 800 feet and characterized by its strong winds and volcanic soil. This vineyard lays down the wine's structural foundation with its distinct acidity and phenolics. Meanwhile, the Seven Springs and Von Oehson Vineyards enrich the wine's body, bestowing it with a bounteous fruit character and elongated depth. The resulting wine is a concentrated blend layered with texture, culminating in a saline finish underscored by mineral undertones. It achieves a delicate equilibrium, boasting citrus and floral notes built on a bedrock of inherent acidity. The aromatic complexity of the wine is subtle yet intricate, presenting fragrances of lemon verbena, chamomile, pineapple, citrus—especially evoking images of lemon zest and tangerine peel—and rounded off by pear.
