The newly-founded Austrian Sekt Committee has delineated a tri-level system, categorizing Sekt by its harvesting and crafting techniques. This specific Brut originates from the Furth-Palt vineyard, situated along the Danube River's southern edge, overlooking the city of Krems and nestled near the Stift Gottweig Monastery's base.

Since 1976, Malat Brut has held the distinction of being Austria's inaugural sparkling wine crafted directly by its winemaker. Gerald, Michael's father, set the precedent for Austrian vintner-produced Sekt following his landmark triumph in the Austrian Supreme Court.
