GUM Blend of Fields Viognier 2022

From Heathcote's ancient Cambrian terrains, this wine owes its depth to the rich amalgamation of basalt, iron, and sand in the soil. While primarily crafted from Viognier, a small fraction (5%) of the blend incorporates red grapes, specifically pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot, all grown on 40-year-old volcanic vines. These red grapes, pressed as white, were harvested early to inject vivacity into the wine.

'Blend of Fields' greets with a nuanced bouquet of earl grey, bay leaf, citrus essence, and acacia. The palate is replete with flavors of apricot, tangerine, white currant, and yellow peach. It carries an effortless structure, marked by a silky texture and delicate phenolics.
