Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is one of the world’s most revered and temperamental red grape varieties, celebrated for its elegance, complexity, and transparent expression of terroir. Originating in Burgundy, where it reaches its finest and most subtle expressions, Pinot Noir thrives in cool to moderate climates with well-drained soils. It produces light to medium-bodied wines with bright acidity, fine tannins, and a flavour spectrum that ranges from red berries and cherry to earth, spice, and forest floor.

Beyond France, exceptional examples are found in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, New Zealand’s Central Otago, Germany’s Baden and Ahr, and Australia’s Yarra Valley. Though notoriously difficult to grow and vinify, Pinot Noir rewards careful handling with wines of finesse, depth, and longevity, making it a favourite among both winemakers and collectors.
