Oregon has emerged as one of the most dynamic wine regions in the United States, celebrated especially for its cool-climate Pinot Noir. The Willamette Valley, the state’s viticultural heart, offers ideal conditions with its long, temperate growing season and diverse volcanic and marine sedimentary soils. Inspired by Burgundy, Oregon winemakers focus on site-specific expression, producing Pinot Noirs known for their purity, balance, and finesse. Chardonnay has also gained momentum, alongside Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gamay. Southern Oregon AVAs like Rogue and Umpqua Valleys offer warmer conditions suited to Syrah, Tempranillo, and Cabernet Franc.
