Filep Gergő represents the younger generation of Tokaj producers focused on low-intervention viticulture, historic vineyard sites, and site-driven interpretations of the region’s dry wines. His production remains deliberately small in scale, centred primarily on Furmint and Kékfrankos, alongside smaller plantings of Hárslevelű and other traditional regional varieties. The wines are defined by restrained cellar work, spontaneous fermentation, extended lees ageing, and a strong emphasis on texture and mineral structure over overt fruit expression or heavy oak influence. While much contemporary Tokaj production from the big estates has moved toward cleaner international styles, Filep’s wines retain a distinctly regional identity, often showing tannin-mineral structure, smoky volcanic character, and very pronounced saline acidity.
