Renowned for its vibrant Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand has become a global wine powerhouse despite its relatively young industry. Pinot Noir from Central Otago and Hawke's Bay's Bordeaux-style reds are perhaps more appreciated by the international wine drinker, but New Zealand is not the sum of these three parts; there are a myriad of winemakers pushing boundaries from Hawke’s Bay and Martinborough, to Nelson and Canterbury. For Australians, New Zealand wines offer a more local look at truly cool-climate winemaking, something we otherwise look to Tasmania or Europe to explore.
