France could be described as the cradle of fine wine, home to iconic regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Champagne, but also many, many wine regions with their own idiosyncrasies and rich history. From Rhône Valley’s bold Syrahs to Loire’s elegant Chenin Blancs, France sets a global benchmark in style and quality for many grapes that we consider ‘international’ varieties. Though not the largest producer by volume, France remains the world’s preeminent wine producer, and the birthplacec of fine wine culture.
