Vinea Marson
Amber WineVinea Marson Friulano #10 2021
A deeply coloured & unctuous skin-contact wine, the Friulano #10 honours winemaker Mario Marson’s grandfather Geremia who grew and made this indigenous variety in the family's hometown of Prata di Pordenone. Inducted as a Ducato dei Vini Friulani in 2012, Mario was inspired to craft this weird and wonderful vino macerazione using pristine fruit grown in the Alpine Valleys of north-east Victoria.
The cool growing season of the 2021 vintage imparts a touch of reduction on the nose of the Friulano #10. With aromas of green pea, mungbean and a pleasant herbaceousness at first, riper fruits reveal themselves with time in the glass. With the appearance of riper fragrance & spice - pear, quince and a hint of nutmeg, it pays to revisit when the wine grades to room temperature.
On the palate the drive of acid is balanced and bright, one of our favourite parts of the Alpine Valleys fruit, offering crisp citrus characters of lemon and blood orange. The phenolics are enticing – a juicy and rich coating around the layers of freshness before leading to a firm, rounded tannin finish. All that you would expect from this delicious and sought-after skin-contact white.
