Luciano Sandrone Valmaggiore Nebbiolo d'Alba 2023

From the Valmaggiore vineyard in Vezza d’Alba, on the sandy Roero side of the Tanaro, Luciano Sandrone sources Nebbiolo from steep, east-facing slopes known for aromatic lift and finer tannin structure. Fermented in stainless steel with a relatively short maceration and aged in large oak, the 2023 emphasises clarity and precision: red cherry, raspberry and rose, with notes of orange peel and dried herbs. The palate is supple but defined, with fine tannins and a persistent, lightly mineral finish. It drinks earlier than Barolo, though retains the shape and detail of the variety.
