Louis Benjamin Daganeu

Dessert Wine

Les Jardins de Babylone Moelleux 2020

This moelleux comes from Les Jardins de Babylone in Jurançon, the south-western project of Didier Dagueneau, now carried on by his son Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau. The vineyard sits at altitude on steep slopes of clay, limestone and siliceous soils, planted predominantly to Petit Manseng.

The wine is built from late-harvest fruit, often passerillé rather than botrytised, giving concentration without heaviness. Fermentation and élevage are handled with the same precision associated with the Dagueneau name, with a focus on preserving tension through acidity.

Pineapple, quince and candied citrus lead, with honey and spice. The palate is rich but controlled, with high acidity carrying the sweetness through a long, persistent finish.
