Bodegas Pentecostés Rías Baixas Varietales 2023

From Bodegas Pentecostés in Val Miñor, near Gondomar, this “Varietales” cuvée draws on the historic mixed plantings around the Pazo Barreiro estate. The blend extends beyond Albariño, incorporating traditional local varieties such as Treixadura, Loureira and Caíño Blanco from these restored parcels on decomposed granite. Fruit is hand-harvested, with fermentation carried out slowly and the wine held on its lees before bottling.

The wine shows a broader aromatic range than the straight Albariño: citrus peel, white peach and pear, with fennel, bay leaf and a light floral note. The palate has more width, with orchard fruit supported by fresh acidity. Lees ageing gives a soft, rounded texture, while the granite soils carry a firm, saline line through the finish. The finish is dry, with a light herbal bitterness and persistent maritime salinity.
