White WineBodegas Pentecostés Rías Baixas Albariño 2023
From Bodegas Pentecostés in the Val Miñor, this Albariño comes from granite terraces around the old Pazo Barreiro estate near Gondomar, in the O Rosal zone of Rías Baixas. The project centres on restored historic parcels in a part of the appellation where D.O. vineyards had largely disappeared, with fruit from steep Atlantic sites and a clear emphasis on Albariño rather than broader mixed-variety blending. The estate’s own material presents the wine as 100% Albariño with lees ageing, while current trade sheets for the latest release detail hand harvesting, slow fermentation in stainless steel with a small portion in French oak, and six months on lees before bottling.
From granite terraces in Val Miñor, close to the Atlantic and centred on the restored Pazo Barreiro vineyard, this Albariño has the breadth and salinity that mark the southern reaches of Rías Baixas. Hand harvesting, slow fermentation, and six months on lees give it shape without dulling its freshness. White flowers, citrus peel and orchard fruit sit over a distinctly maritime line, with the granite giving the wine a stony, firm profile. The palate is taut but not severe, with good breadth through the middle and a persistent saline finish.
