Birichino Scylla 2022

This beautiful Rhône-inspired blend is crafted from two varieties with an average vine age of over 100 years. Two century-old Carignan vineyards in the Mokelumne River area of Lodi provide the backbone flavour to the blend, while Grenache grapes from Santa Cruz' Besson Vineyard add a delicate touch. Each variety was vinified separately: partial carbonic maceration for the Carignan and 'lasagne-like' wild ferments that included 30% stemmed grapes for the Grenache. The finished product spent eight months in old barrique and demi-muid barrels before bottling.
