Benjamin Leroux Beaune 1er Cru Les Cent-Vignes 2021

From the Les Cent-Vignes premier cru on the Pommard side of Beaune, Benjamin Leroux sources Pinot Noir from old vines rooted in clay-limestone soils with a notable gravel component. Leroux works closely with growers under long-term contracts, favouring organic or near-organic practices, and harvests by hand. Vinification is parcel-specific, with a portion of whole bunch retained depending on the year, indigenous fermentations, and careful, low-extraction handling. The 2021 reflects a cooler, later season, giving red cherry, cranberry and rose with notes of spice, orange peel and a light savoury edge. The palate is finely structured, with precise tannins and a clear, persistent line through the finish.
