Albino Rocca Barbaresco Ronchi 2022

From Albino Rocca’s Ronchi vineyard in Barbaresco, a south-facing site on calcareous marl, this cuvée comes from a single, well-exposed slope long central to the estate. The Rocca family farms organically, and the fruit here is handled with a controlled maceration followed by élevage in large Slavonian oak botti with a smaller proportion of neutral French oak, preserving site detail.

The wine opens with red cherry, raspberry and rose, with orange peel, anise and a light balsamic note. The palate is more open and finely drawn than the estate Barbaresco, with precise, persistent tannins and a clear acid line carrying red fruit. There is lift through the mid-palate, with floral and spice notes building over a firm mineral base. The finish is long, dry and detailed, with tar, citrus and a saline edge.
