Taupenot Merme Gevrey Chambertin Bel Air 2022

From the lieu-dit Bel Air on the northern side of the appellation, a cooler, elevated site on shallow limestone with good drainage, typically yielding wines of more linear structure than the broader village norm. Under Romain Taupenot and Virginie Taupenot, the domaine is farmed organically, with hand harvesting, partial whole-bunch depending on the season, native yeast fermentation and élevage in French oak with restrained new wood. The 2022 vintage shows red and black cherry, cranberry and subtle spice, with a firmer tannic frame and a cooler, mineral line that reflects the site’s altitude and limestone profile, finishing precise and persistent.
