Taupenot Merme Charmes Chambertin 2022

Drawn from parcels in Mazoyères-Chambertin, the southern sector of the grand cru that the estate elects to bottle under the Charmes designation. The domaine, led by Romain Taupenot and Virginie Taupenot, farms organically and works with a restrained cellar approach: hand-harvested fruit, partial whole-bunch depending on the vintage, native yeast fermentation, and élevage in French oak with a measured proportion of new barrels. The 2022 vintage, warm but balanced, gives a wine of breadth without excess: black cherry and plum, rose petal, and a subtle earthy register, supported by fine-grained tannins and a composed, persistent finish that reflects both the depth of Mazoyères and the inherent generosity of the Charmes slope.
