An outstanding expression of this variety that is surely one of the best in Portugal. Bright, perfectly ripe red cherry, red plum and that captivating pepper note that is the signature of Jaen. Lavender and violets come along for the ride too. Tasting blind, you'd almost say this is top tier Rhone Syrah in a lighter shade. Juicy black fruits make up the core of the palate, with a lifted olive tapenade note to go with it. Velvet tannin and a nice gentle acidity bring it all on home. 100% vibration screening and destemmed. Ageing in 20% in new 500-liter French oak barrels; 80% in second year barrels for 9 months
