Sadie Family Wines Treinspoor 2024

From old bush vines in the Swartland, Sadie Family Wines works with Tinta Barroca planted on decomposed granite and iron-rich soils, dry-farmed in a warm, wind-exposed landscape. Treinspoor is fermented with a high proportion of whole bunches and aged in large, neutral oak, with élevage aimed at preserving structure and site clarity. The 2024 shows dark cherry, plum and mulberry with notes of spice, dried herb and a light ferrous edge. The tannins are firm but finely worked, carrying a long, structured line with a persistent, savoury finish. It remains composed and will develop steadily in bottle.
