Luigi Tecce 'Puro Sangue' R18 2018

From Taurasi’s higher, cooler vineyards around Paternopoli, Puro Sangue is Tecce’s most complete expression of Aglianico, drawn from old vines rooted in compact clay and volcanic soils. The 2018 is fermented spontaneously with extended maceration, then aged in large, neutral oak, allowing the wine to build structure slowly. It opens on sour cherry, black plum and dried rose, with iron, tobacco leaf and a distinct earthy depth. The palate is firm and tightly wound, driven by Aglianico’s natural acidity and assertive tannins, which carry through a long, savoury finish. Time in bottle has begun to soften the edges, bringing the wine into a more composed, integrated phase while retaining its underlying tension.
