Joh Jos Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel 2023 375ml

This Auslese comes from the Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard above the Mosel, one of the region's most famous sites, and one of the most famous Riesling vineyards in the world. The steep, south-facing slopes of blue Devonian slate give a more enclosed, structured expression than neighbouring sites, with Goldkapsel indicating a selection of greater ripeness and concentration within the Auslese range.

The 2023 was harvested from highly botrytised fruit, with fermentation carried out slowly to preserve detail. Residual sugar is high, but balanced by the Mosel’s characteristic acidity.

White peach, apricot and candied citrus lead, with honey and a pronounced slate edge. The palate is dense and layered, with sweetness carried by firm acidity and a long, structured finish. Could hold for decades.
