Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese 2023 Magnum comes from the Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard above the Mosel, produced by Joh. Jos. Prüm. The steep, south-facing slopes of blue Devonian slate give a more enclosed, structured expression than neighbouring sites.
The 2023 vintage allowed for selective harvesting of botrytised fruit at Auslese level, with fermentation carried out slowly at low temperatures. The wine remains low in alcohol, with residual sugar balanced by firm acidity.
White peach, apricot and citrus lead, with floral notes and a pronounced slate edge. The palate is layered and concentrated, with sweetness carried by acidity and a long, structured finish. The magnum format will favour slow development over time.
