Gant & Co Gant & Cia Alvarinho 2025

Gant & Co is situated in Karridale, the southernmost unofficial subregion of Margaret River. Here, where coastal influence from the Indian Ocean to the west and the Southern Ocean to the south brings cooling breezes and rainier weather, Claudia and Matt Gant cultivate a vineyard once owned by Claudia's father. The 25 hectares is planted to regional mainstays of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon, as well as newer plantings of Arneis and Alvarinho, and small pockets of red varieties.

This Alvarinho is from newer plantings, managed sensitively in support of vine health. The resulting wine is fresh and taut, with white florals, lemon pith, and a hint of apricot on the nose. On the palate there is a core of zesty citrus, with sea-salt stoniness, and a chalky grip.

Pair this with oysters or crudo, white-fleshed fish, or chicken baked with lemon and potatoes.
