Domaine Clos de Tart Grand Cru 2021

From a 7.5-hectare walled vineyard in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Clos de Tart farms Pinot Noir across a continuous slope of clay-limestone with varying exposures and vine ages. The vineyard is worked biodynamically, with massal selection and detailed parcel work feeding into a single grand cru wine. Fruit is hand-harvested, with a proportion of whole bunch retained, followed by indigenous fermentation and gentle extraction. Élevage is in French oak with a restrained but meaningful proportion of new barrels. The 2021 reflects a cooler, later season, giving red cherry, cranberry and rose with spice and a light savoury edge. The palate is finely structured, with persistent, precise tannins and a long, mineral line through the finish. Production is limited and tightly allocated, and the wine sits among the most historically significant grand crus of the Côte de Nuits.
