Bodegas Exopto Rioja Blanco Field Blend 2024

From Tom Puyaubert’s Bodegas Exopto, this blanco is drawn from old, high-altitude mixed plantings around Ábalos and San Vicente de la Sonsierra, where white varieties remain interplanted within historic vineyards. The blend is led by Viura, with Malvasía Riojana, Garnacha Blanca, Maturana Blanca and small proportions of other traditional varieties. Fermentation is with native yeasts, followed by élevage in large French oak foudre, concrete eggs and used barrels.

Citrus peel, white flowers, orchard fruit and anise sit over a stony, lightly savoury frame. The palate is supple, with a gentle phenolic edge supporting the fruit. Freshness carries through the mid-palate, with mineral salinity giving shape. The finish is long, chalky and dry.
