Benjamin Leroux
Red WineBenjamin Leroux Pommard 2023
From multiple parcels across Pommard, Benjamin Leroux works with Pinot Noir sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards on clay-limestone soils, with a focus on vine age and site exposure. Fruit is hand-harvested, partially destemmed depending on parcel and vintage, and fermented with indigenous yeasts, followed by élevage in French oak with a restrained proportion of new barrels. Leroux’s approach centres on low extraction and careful tannin management, avoiding the heavy handling that has historically defined the appellation. The 2023 shows dark cherry, plum and red currant with notes of spice, earth and a light floral lift. The palate is structured, with fine, well-shaped tannins and a steady, mineral line through the finish.
