Bachelet-Monnot Santenay Les Prarons Dessus 2023

From the Les Prarons Dessus parcel in Santenay, on a high, exposed slope with a strong limestone base, Domaine Bachelet-Monnot farms Pinot Noir with a vineyard-first approach, working along organic lines with careful canopy management and hand harvesting. Vinification is largely destemmed with selective whole-bunch inclusion, followed by indigenous fermentation and measured extraction. Élevage is in French oak with a restrained proportion of new barrels. The 2023 shows red cherry and cranberry with rose, spice and a faint savoury note. The palate is structured and finely drawn, with firm, well-shaped tannins and a persistent, mineral line shaped by the limestone site.
