André Bonhomme Les Hauts des Ménards 2021

From the Hauts des Ménards climat in Viré-Clessé, this cuvée is drawn from higher-lying parcels on limestone and marl, where elevation and exposure tend to preserve acidity and define a more tensile expression of Chardonnay. The Bonhomme family, established here since the mid-20th century and now led by Agnès Bonhomme and Aurélie Bonhomme, farms organically, with hand harvesting, native yeast fermentation and élevage on fine lees in a combination of stainless steel and older oak. The 2021 season, marked by lower yields and a cooler profile, is expressed here with precision: citrus, green apple and white peach, underpinned by firm acidity and a saline, mineral finish shaped by the site’s limestone soils.
