Red WineAlex Foillard Beaujolais-Villages 2024
From granitic vineyards in the southern part of the Beaujolais crus, this 2024 Beaujolais-Villages comes from Alex Foillard, son of Jean Foillard and part of the new generation of growers building on the legacy of the region’s natural wine movement. Working with organically farmed Gamay and a low-intervention philosophy, Foillard follows many of the principles that helped establish Morgon as a benchmark for contemporary Beaujolais, including hand harvesting, native-yeast fermentation, and restrained sulphur use. Fruit for this cuvée is sourced from granitic sites within the Beaujolais-Villages appellation, where poorer soils and higher elevations often produce wines of greater aromatic definition than the broader regional appellation. The 2024 vintage delivers bright raspberry, red cherry, and violet, with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a stony mineral thread through the finish. Approachable in youth, it carries the precision and transparency that have made the Foillard name one of the most influential in modern Beaujolais.
