Mac Forbes EB44 Prognostication Nebbiolo 2023

From his Experimental Batch series, EB44 sees Mac Forbes turn his hand to Nebbiolo, sourced from the upper Yarra Valley where cooler slopes favour the grape’s late ripening nature. The 2023 season was marked by a long, even ripening, giving fruit of clarity and fragrance. Fermented with a high proportion of whole bunches and raised in older oak, the wine captures Nebbiolo’s classical tension: aromas of rose petal, sour cherry, and orange zest glide into a palate edged with fine, chalky tannins and a lift of alpine herbs.
