White WineAntoniolo Erbaluce di Caluso 2022
Erbaluce is a native Italian grape that remains closely tied to its home region in the Gattinara area of Alto Piemonte. The town of Caluso is most associated with Erbaluce, named after the fairy Albaluce who, according to legend, blessed the town with this grape. The name also references the bright color of the grape, "luce" meaning light. Erbaluce produces a light wine with white floral notes, high acidity, and a crisp minerality, featuring fruity hints of citrus, apricot, and crisp apple. The wines are beautifully balanced.
Established in 1947, Antoniolo is a benchmark producer in Gattinara. Their wines undergo spontaneous long fermentation with indigenous yeasts. This particular Erbaluce offers a harmonious balance, with medium floral aromas that carry through to a crisp palate, accented by hints of grapefruit and mineral flint. Light and crisp, it boasts great complexity and length.
