Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr 2006 Beerenauslese

From one of the Mosel’s most prized vineyards, this 2006 Beerenauslese from Selbach-Oster is a masterclass in late-harvest intensity and crystalline balance. Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, a steep, southwest-facing site with deep Devonian slate, provides ideal conditions for noble rot to concentrate flavour without sacrificing acidity. The 2006 vintage, marked by humid autumns and cool nights, favoured selective botrytis development and superb extract.

Golden in the glass, the wine opens with lavish aromas of candied orange peel, saffron, honeycomb, and ripe apricot, underpinned by a gentle whiff of petrol and flint. The palate is dense yet lifted—saturated with dried tropical fruit, citrus marmalade, and sweet spices, all balanced by a vibrant acid backbone and silken texture. This is Riesling in its most opulent, age-worthy form: baroque, shimmering, and perfectly poised between sweetness and structure.
