Red WineRusden Black Guts Shiraz 2021
Tucked at the foot of the eastern Barossa Ranges, the Rusden Vineyard thrives on the deep sands of Vine Vale. This region, once a dense thicket of cypress, blue gum, and wattle known as Bethany Sandscrub, was transformed by early settlers. Today, the heritage of old vines is nurtured with dedication and hand-tended techniques, ensuring their legacy for generations to come. Embracing a restrained approach to winemaking, the essence of each grape variety shines, melding New World flair with Old World tradition to craft wines of depth, personality, and harmony.
The Black Guts Shiraz, always a standout, graces us with its 2021 iteration. It captures the quintessence of Vine Vale Shiraz during a notable vintage. Aromatic hints of violet, graphite, berry-soaked liquor, anise, and a touch of spice waft from the glass. While robust in its profile, there's a refined grace characteristic of Eastern Barossa. Palate notes of dark cherries, spices, and undertones of mocha are elegantly framed by the oak, culminating in a truly delightful wine.
