Francois Villard
Red WineFrançois Villard L'Appel des Sereines 2021
François Villard didn't inherit a legacy in winemaking; his initial journey began in the culinary arts as a chef. He now oversees a sprawling 64 hectares, owning 40 and sourcing from the remaining. He practices sustainable agriculture, awaiting his organic certification. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Villard prefers a later harvest to ensure maximum ripeness, a choice that seamlessly melds richness with vibrancy in his wines.
The aroma is arresting, blending notes of white pepper, an assortment of spices, intense violet blossoms, and that distinctive savory touch emblematic of the northern Rhone. It mirrors the essence of a young Crozes-Hermitage. The palate is elegantly structured, featuring undertones of crushed black cherry and cool blue fruit flavors, leading to a lengthy and velvety mouthfeel. A hint of smoky spice on an extended finish pairs seamlessly with the refreshing berry nuances. Another outstanding creation from Villard.
