Cramele Recaș
Red WineCramele Recaș “Sânziană” Pinot Noir 2022
100% Pinot Noir.
Romania has one of the oldest wine-producing cultures in Europe - shaped by the Roman Empire, the monasteries and subsequently influenced by the French. Today, it is one of the largest wine-producing countries in the world, yet so little makes it to Australia.
Recaș has a long history of winemaking, dating back to 1447. Mihail de Ciorna, the Banate of Severin, purchased the vineyards from nobles Ioan and Ecaterina Magyar. Over the centuries, the vineyards became an important part of the local culture in Banat, even being used as currency in trade between East and West. Various groups, including Hungarians, Austrians, Serbs, Swabians, Croats, and Romanians, managed and appreciated the vineyards. In 1991, Cramele Recaș was founded with the goal of preserving this rich heritage and enhancing the quality of Banat wines. Today, the winery manages 1200 hectares of vineyards.
