Claus Preisinger 'Puszta Libre!' Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir 2024

Based in Gols on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl, Claus Preisinger is one of Burgenland’s most important contemporary winemakers, farming biodynamically and working with minimal intervention in the cellar.

Puszta Libre! is Preisinger's homage to the wines of Beaujolais. Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Pinot Noir are fermented using semi-carbonic and whole-bunch carbonic maceration for just five days, before six months in stainless steel and bottling unfiltered. The result is bright and immediate, with sour cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, gentle spice, fresh acidity and soft tannin. Puszta is the Hungarian name for the great Pannonian plain stretching east from Austria across Hungary.
