Sepp & Maria Muster
Amber WineMuster Opok 2021
Sepp and Maria Muster took over their 10 hectare estate in Schlossberg near the small town of Leutschach in Styria (called Steiermark) from their parents Theresa and Rudolf Muster. The oldest document records of the estate date back to 1727 whereas the layout plans of the vineyards date back to 1787. We are in rolling countryside, plenty of forest, right on the border of Slovenia.
A combination of all the white varieties to be found in the region (Sauvignon Blanc, Morillon, Weissburgunder, Welschriesling, Gelber Muskateller), grown on opok, or ancient ocean marl, soils particular to the region—this white wine is cold-climate the way Burgundy used to be in the '80s. Linear, fresh and floral as a meadow, fully electric with acidity. If you like your white wines lean but you're bored to tears with those that all taste the same, this is your next revelation.
