Suertes del Marqués
Red WineSuertes del Marqués Tenerife Valle de la Orotava 7 Fuentes 2020
The Suertes del Marqués,village red is a blend of Listán Negro and Tintilia, named after the seven climats in the D.O. of Valle de la Orotava. The wine has undergone significant stylistic changes since its early days, now presenting as a lighter-bodied, thirst-quenching wine with a more attractive appearance. The main component of the wine is the highly aromatic Listán Negro, with a small proportion of Tintilia. Fermentation takes place in small tanks, using indigenous yeast and a short, gentle maceration process.
Raw materials for the wine are sourced from 35 separate plots at varying altitudes, ranging from 10 to 100 years old, on the slopes of Mount Teide. The Listán Negro is primarily grown using the cordón trenzado method, while the Tintilia, sourced from the Bocanegra plot, is trellised to the espaldera system. Each parcel is fermented separately in stainless steel tanks before being blended and aged in small concrete tanks (70%) and mature French demi-muids (30%).
